DO YOU FEEL like you are living in an emotional world of struggle & overwhelm as you live your day to day life in this 24/7 crazy busy, information over loaded world? If you do, you’re not alone, according to gostress.com (Sunday, September 30, 2018) :

Alarmingly 91% of adult Australians feel stress in at least one important area of their lives. Almost 50% feel very stressed about one part of their life – Lifeline Australia.

Not only is there a global growing sense of feeling physically & emotionally depleted trying to constantly keep all the balls up in the air but also there is an ever increasing awareness that somewhere deep with in our soul there is a disconnection from what we feel we what we want to really be doing. Words can’t always describe it, it’s more a feeling of a lack of fulfilment coupled with a belief that there has to be more to life than the daily commuter grind, general office stress & so often uninspiring humdrum work-home-work-home routine.
Another way of being is beckoning more & more of us but where do you start when you have the usual life commitments of mortgages, kids, providing food on the table all clawing for your physical time, emotional attention, and mental head space?
So what’s the answer? If we can’t just stop on our heels and disappear in to blissful sunsets and the land of milk then we need to find ways to manage our daily stresses & strains because as the old adage goes if nothing changes then nothing changes!
The solution lies in finding ways that we as an individual can reconnect. Reconnect to what? Reconnect to ourselves, our own self, our own personal path, our own personal spiritual energy. I’m not talking religion, politics or joining some spooky cult like group who claim they can change you & your life if you commit your bank account to them…this couldn’t be further than the truth from what I’m talking about. I’m talking about learning how to reconnect to YOUR own Soul, YOUR own path of passion and YOUR own authentic truth. I’m also talking about learning and accepting to connect to YOUR own personal spiritual energy. The answer to a more fulfilling, enriching & happy, abundant life lies with YOU and it lies with in the power of YOUR own soul. Your job is to learn how to reconnect & communicate openly & honestly with your soul this involves talking & listening to it in equal measure!
We will be exploring how you can reconnect to your personal spiritual power, your individual soul’s energy in many future posts but for now the single quickest, easiest thing you can do almost anywhere that can make a massive immediate difference to your quality of life is to learn how to connect to your breath.
Breathe, I hear you say. We all do that automatically don’t we? Yes, we do but unless you have a regular yoga/tai chai or similar mindful meditation practice not many of us are consciously aware of the power that exists with in the energetic connection between our mind spirit body & breath. The breath is our connection between our spiritual energetic body & our physical body. It connects & bridges the gap between our physical shell & our spiritual essence ie our soul.
Connecting with our breath is the fastest way I know that can tell us where we’re holding our stress. Our breath is an intelligent source of energy all of it’s own. When we slow down & consciously connect with our breath it openly & honestly communicates with us. It holds the answers to why we have physical/emotional pain & why we still struggle with our triggers even after much healing work has been done.
When we really listen and feel in to our own breath it will also connect us with information held deep down in our sub conscious, our inner child wounds, our hurts, our past pains & ancestral struggles. Our breath is the first thing that welcomes us in to this world & the last thing we do on exiting the physical plane. It kick starts us in to action here on earth, it gives us clues all is not well…think panic attacks, your breathing is a give way all is not great.
A couple of instant self tuning in practices that will help you to reconnect from within are :
1. Stop, sit/lie down tools, close your eyes, smell the air, focus on the ‘air of life’ that you are bringing with each breath in to your body, this is the new breath ie it feeds & promotes new cells, promotes circulation & blood flow. In other words it’s giving you fresh energy life force.
Next focus on the air that you release ..this is letting go of the old, stagnant, no longer serving, no longer required energy. Stagnation results in imbalance causing ‘dis-ease’ in the energetic & physical bodies.
2. Next, take note of where you’re breathing. Where do you breathe?..shallow in your chest? If so you want to get practising deep belly slow breathing for calmness & body connection. Take it easy if you’re not used to it, it can make you feel a bit light headed, so start off with just even 2 or 3 deep belly breaths breathing in through your nose & out through your nostrils & see how it makes you feel, build up slowly…it’s all about slowing it all down & feeling that life’s a bit more fresh, calm & manageable.
The idea of these exercises are to get you connecting inwards and feeling from with in again. Through too much daily stress, excess gadget time, minimal time in nature, eating the wrong foods, excess usage of pharmaceutical drugs we unconsciously disconnect our spiritual energy from our physical body.
Want to know more about the power of breath work, here’s my top 3 sites & favourite book I bought about 20 years ago but remember you can read all about it as much as you like but you need to actually do the practices to get the real benefits.
